We’re on day four on our vacation. I managed to successfully drag Alan camping. We did three nights at a KOA in Astoria, OR. We stayed in one of the Kamping Kabins. Not bad…just horrible mattresses. It was hard to get a good night’s sleep. This trip is for the family but mainly for the boys. They got to sleep in rustic bunk beds, swim, collect shells, roast marshmallows…. Erin was done with camping by Monday night. All I heard was, “Mommy, let’s get outta here.” “I want to go home.” “I go sit in the car.”
Now we’re at the Great Wolf Lodge for a few nights. She’s better because she can go swimming. She has aquatic therapy once a week and she loves it. We went swimming at the campground and it was a miracle we were able to get her out of the pool. As we were in the wave pool this evening, we noticed that Erin has a new swelling on the left side of her neck. Good news…the swelling on her back subsided. I haven’t noticed too many changes with her back. I am sure there is new bone growth. Maybe in a couple days we’ll be able to see it better.
Traveling with her hasn’t been easy. Now I think it’s because her body is dealing with multiple flare-ups. The mattress in the cabin was real hard so every time she moved she had to wake up. Plus she would squirm her way into our bed which was only a double. When she moved into our bed, one of us had to go sleep on a bottom bunk. Right now she’s stretched out in the middle of a king size bed. Erin is finally a happy camper.
