Today we met Kate down near Tacoma at a pharmacy that had just about everything for disabled people. They had a large section of the store dedicated to wheelchairs and assorted push chairs. The kids and I got there before Kate so I was able to look around. All the strollers/push chairs looked "medical" (lack of a better term). Once Kate arrived she immediately pulled a few out and was showing me how they worked. At first I was in denial that Erin needed one (that's the small part of me that still wants to believe that one day I'll ...

We've been MIA all week. In any given year August is our busiest month. However, it has been one thing after another this past week. We had several birthdays, Uncle Sean arrived in Washington, Aunt Fran and Uncle Dale are in Washington, and we're gearing up for the new school year starting next week. Transitioning back to school is tough for the boys...especially Brennan.
Today was Brennan's school's open house and we met his new teacher. He knows all the kids in his class. For the past three years he's been in a classroom with about 15 students who are all on ...

During the garage sale, my Stampin' Up demonstrator had donated color coordinating packs of paper, ink, and pens to sell. The supplies were dropped off at 1:00PM on that Saturday. By 3:00 I saw the last pack walk out the door. All of us who were working the sale and are somewhat crafty were just drooling over the packets. I knew there wouldn't be any left over for us to buy. I thanked Anne Beale for her donation and told her they were a hit. Then during her open house this weekend, she asked her customers to hand stamp thank you ...

Erin had an appointment with Rehab Medicine at Children's Hospital on Wednesday. While she was there the OT stopped by with her helmet. Of course Erin didn't want the helmet on but it also didn't help that she had not taken a nap before the appointment. This morning I made her put it on right away. She tried to push me away, cried, and screamed but I still got it on her. She wore it a good part of the day until she got tired. She was moving into her "I am going to ...

Oh the drama never stops! Erin and I were taking our nightly shower when she slipped and banged her head on the metal rim in the shower stall. When she fell, she fell like a tree...didn't bend or twist on the way down. I immediately picked her up and held her close. Alan ran upstairs when he heard the thump. He was the first to see the blood falling down her face. We cleaned her up and saw that she was going to need stitches. She has an inch long gap just above her right eye. Alan whisked her off to the emergency room ...

During the craziness of the garage sale, Erin received a package from my father. In it was this beautiful handmade quilt by the Squares of Love Quilt Fellowship from St. Patrick's Anglican Church in Smyrna, TN. With the lap quilt came a pamphlet explaining the history and design of the quilt. "Each lap quilt consists of seventy hand cut squares, having seven columns representing the seven churches and ten rows for the ten commandments. The cross is a visual reminder of our Lord's sacrifice. The twelve squares of the cross represent the twelve apostles." My father had told me to ...

Today is Erin's third birthday! We celebrated her birthday with friends last night. Erin totally knows what it means to have a birthday party. She crashed on the couch late in the afternoon and woke up just before her party was to start. She was so cranky and cried for a good thirty minutes. Once we mentioned birthday cake and presents....she calmed down. "My dirday cake?" "I want to open my dirday presents!" All of her friends showed up and the Backyardigan theme was a hit! All the kids loved the Backyardigan masks. We played "Pin the Tie on Pablo" and ...

It's taken me some time to update everyone on our A-W-E-S-O-M-E sale. There were a team of people at the church all day Thursday. Tina Stewart, Melissa's mother (Sue), and Melissa started organizing items while Alan, Melissa's step-father (Ted), and Melissa's neighbor (Katie) went from location to location picking up donated items. When I got there around 6PM there was no place on the floor to walk. I was told that as Tina, Sue, and Melissa were trying to organize things, donations kept coming in. By the time I got there we had our work cut out for us. People started trickling ...

Well, we're down to the last few days of getting everything together. We cleaned out our garage to make room for things and we just filled it back up today. Our family shuttled stuff across town all day. We picked up some great items...couches, washer/dryer, a leather chair, and lots of kids toys. We borrowed Melissa and Rob's pick-up truck and got a look at their garage. Wow...When I saw how filled their garage is, I was then thankful we cleared ...

We've survived our family vacation!! Not that we didn't have our moments but overall we had a great time. Alan and I are happy to be home. The kids were sad to leave the hotel but hopefully we'll make another trip back in the near future.
On the last day of our vacation, I was sitting in the kiddie pool with Erin when I noticed that the lump on her neck had changed. It's hard and it has a black/blue coloring. We woke up this morning and now her left scapula area has started to swell. My heart sunk again knowing ...
