Going Home

October 17th, 2008

Our trip is coming to an end…finally.  Our itnerary was full once we left Nashville.  We are coming home with hope for Erin’s prognosis.  I’ll blog more about our appointment with Dr. Kaplan once we get settled.  There are so many little details and I don’t want to give false info.

From Philadelphia we headed north to Newton, NJ where we spent a beautiful weekend with my cousins.  I had not seen some of them in over ten years.  From Newton, NJ we headed south to Williamsburg, VA for a little R&R.  My mother-in-law has a time share and we had three days at Wyndam’s Kingsgate.  For the first time on this trip, everyone had a bed and space to themselves.  I was just thrilled to wash clothes.  Unfortunately Erin developed another flare-up on her back (right side).  This one has been painful.  She was miserable walking around Williamsburg.

At least Alan and I are anxious to get home.  The boys are not.  They have homework to catch up on.  They didn’t get too much done once we left Nashville.  There were long days in the car and we stayed in cramped spaces.  Alan told my father today that we’re going home as a changed family.  Our hearts were filled with love from the family and filled with hope from Dr. Kaplan.  The trip was an emotional one for me.  FOP has brought the family together and there were many emotional good-byes during the last two weeks.
